HeadphonesBecome an Audophile...Write a Wireless Headphones Review by Ron RougeauxAre you an audiophile? You are if you spend obscene amounts of money on music, equipment, and the perfect environment to listen to it. Are you interested in becoming an audiophile? How about if we start with a wireless headphones review? This hobby is becoming increasingly popular as people want to enjoy the power of music without limits. Listening to music in the comfort of a "listening theatre" has become its own type of event, just like watching television or playing video games. Here's how you can become an audiophile. Find a room in your house that is not used for anything else. A spare room is appropriate, although some people use their living room. Add a soft couch or chair and purchase stereo equipment and find your favorite albums. There are many resources online to help you in your quest to become an audiophile. You will also want to think about the right headphones for your audiophile experience and headphones you'll want to use are wireless headphones technology. Why headphones instead of speakers? Speakers are good and loud, but audiophiles don't care about loud; they care about quality. Speakers bounce the sound off the walls of the room but a true audiophile will notice that the sound quality changes depending on what's in the room. Soft surfaces like couches, drapes, and carpet will dampen the sound. Hard surfaces will make the sound reverberate. Leaving papers lying around could mean that you hear a slight buzzing as the sound vibrates the paper. Yes, being an audiophile is that serious! Wireless headphones are the solution. Normal headphones are powered by, and receive the sound signals from, the wires that connect them to the amplifier. Wireless headphones need batteries to operate so they can receive the signal and transfer it to the tiny speakers. The signal is sent from a signal sending unit nearby to your wireless headphones for you to enjoy. The farther away you get from the signal sending unit, the worse the sound will get. As an audiophile, you definitely don't want to sacrifice sound quality! The best thing to do is to purchase the most powerful wireless headphones and signal sending unit you can afford. If you are an audiophile on a budget, you may have to choose a midrange set. Part of the audiophile experience is to sit in your chair, close your eyes, and experience the music. When shopping for wireless headphones, you'll want to purchase noise cancelling wireless headphones. Even if you are on a budget, audiophiles will justify this additional cost. Noise cancelling wireless headphones usually fit right over your ears with soft padding around that completely encircles your ear. Circuitry inside the head phone itself cancels out background noise. That means you can enjoy music at a lower volume (because it's not competing with whatever else is going on in your house) and you'll hear the sound better. Don't scrimp on this part of your budget because inexpensive headphones - like earbuds - are appropriate for day to day and travel use but for the true audiophile, the only choice is noise cancelling wireless headphones. Headphones for joggers are a danger to health! Well that's what one health columnist said recently, but just what did she mean exactly? Well, when questioned further she told the interview that joggers who wear headphones are a danger to themselves and others simply because they were not alert to their surroundings. "They bang into things and bump into other people, not to mention the dangers of crossing busy roads without being able to here oncoming traffic!" she added. Hmm! well I'm happy to say I've never had any such incidences and the thought of jogging without my headphones is just unimaginable. We live in an age where most folks are addicted to their MP3 players and even the olds are plugged in these days. We've all seen the suites with their bobbing heads as they commute on the trains and busses during the Monday to Friday work-run. But for me and countless others, the MP3 player and a decent set of headphones really comes into its own during what would otherwise be a boring workout! I used to hate jogging for exercise but I can't get enough of it these days. Ever since I got a decent set of headphones for the job, I've been running like a whippet most evenings. My Logitech Wireless Headphones are just perfect for my MP3 Player. They are ultra light weight and so comfortable that I feel quite undressed without them. It's really important to choose the right headphones for jogging exercise. For one thing, they have to be more steady and snug than the standard types because of all the movement going on. The standard ear buds that came with my player tended to fall out all the time and I was constantly having to stick them back into the lug holes. Whether you chose the in-ear, over the head, or over the ear neck-band earphones types, they have to be secure while running. There are some very good models around these days and once you ascertain which ones will stay in place, it's just a matter of preference with sound and style. My girlfriend uses Sony MDREX71's and I have to say they sound fantastic, but for some reason, I just don't feel comfortable wearing them for jogging. I've recently purchased the hugely popular Samsung D500 slide phone with 1.3 megapixel camera, MP3 player, video & Bluetooth device etc. So in effect, my old MP3 player is redundant as I can now jog with phone, music, and digi camera all bundled up into one neat little package. Another great feature of this mobile is that I can also use the MP3's as ring tones. Yeah okay, so I'm a gadget geek but who cares, I love it! But seriously folks, if you really want to get into shape and you've not yet got an MP3, I suggest you look as some of the new mobile phones which include the player. Exercise used to be boring, a necessary evil for those of us wanting to keep in tip top shape. Not anymore thanks to the mini MP3 player. I tell you, now that I've got music while I exercise and a decent set of headphones for jogging, my fitness regime is no longer something I dread but look forward to each and every day. But to end on an important note, it's not wise to crank up the music too loud when you're out and about. For one thing, it can have a long term damaging effect on your hearing, and another is you really do need to be aware of what's going on around you during your jog, otherwise you might just run into trouble as the health columnist was quoted at the start of this short article. Choke on a Noise Cancelling Headphone? by RC Rougeux Safety is usually a boring term, but not with headphones! Safety with your noise cancelling headphones is important and here are some of the issues you'll want to know. Noise cancelling headphones are great for the music, movie, or game lover who doesn't want other people to have to hear what's being enjoyed. Audiophiles for example, choose noise canceling headphones when they are listening to music in a home theatre setting. People in apartments or college dorms, as another example, may use headphones so they don't bother the neighbors. When it comes to noise canceling headphones, there are appropriate times to use them and inappropriate times to use them. Noise canceling headphones really do eliminate a lot of background noise, which means you get a crisper, clearer sound (to the sound you want to listen to!) than if you simply used regular headphones. However, be sure not to use your noise canceling headphones when you find yourself in a situation where you need all of your senses to keep you safe and alert. For example, this type of head phone may be appropriate while you're listening in your home theatre or you're flying in an airplane. But it wouldn't be appropriate if you're driving a car, riding a bicycle, or walking down a dark street in the middle of the night. You need to be able to hear in order to stay safe and react appropriately to noises around you. However, there are times when noise canceling headphones are actually safer than regular head phones! For example, if you are in a place where there is a lot of background noise and you need to or want to hear sound through your headphones. Regular head phones would not properly cancel out the background sound, forcing you to turn up the sound further, potentially causing permanent hearing loss. A good set of noise canceling headphones though, can eliminate background noise so you can hear your own music better. And, of course, there's the "angry neighbor" who is sick of hearing your music and asking you turn it down! They won't bang on the walls of the apartment anymore! Other headphones then, are safe in circumstances where you need to hear the background noise and be able to react to it. But they are not safe if you are forced to turn them up too loudly to cancel out the peripheral sounds. Other safety issues with headphones (not just noise cancelling headphones) are wires and cords: be careful that you don't get tangled up in the wires and cords for they could really hurt, or even cause choking! One example might be if you fall asleep with your headphones on." The old adage "safety first" may be boring but it makes good sense. Be sure to put safety first when you are using headphones and use the right ones for the right circumstances.
